How to Repair the Lenovo Thinkpad X300 X301 Keyboard

For example, if you have a damaged Lenovo Thinkpad X300 X301 Keyboard, it is probably the result of a bad connection and can be repaired in a short amount of time. Performing the fix yourself will save you time and money and you'll gain a better understanding of the external computer components and how they function.

Turn your ThinkPad off, remove the AC power cable, close the screen and turn the computer upside down.

Slide the rectangular battery out of its compartment on the underside of the computer.

Remove all screws from the center of the bottom of the computer. These are the Lenovo Thinkpad X300 X301 Keyboard screws and are marked with the icon of a computer keyboard.

Turn the computer right side up and open the screen so that you have full access to the keyboard.

Locate the plastic latches at the top of the keyboard and press them up while simultaneously pulling the keyboard toward you.

Lift the Lenovo Thinkpad X300 X301 Keyboard up from the top to expose the ribbon cable. Make sure it is fitted securely in its port on the top panel of the computer. If it isn't, plug the ribbon cable securely into the port. Then reassemble your computer in the reverse order you took it apart.
